Communications and Signal Processing
Research is underway on the design and development of software that generates implementations and solves estimation problems using Kalman filters and its variants. From a high-level mathematical description of a state estimation problem, the software aims to generate code that computes statistically optimal estimate using the appropriate estimation filters. Also being developed are motion analysis algorithms to find relevant motion parameters based on available information, in the presence of relatively high error rates in low SNR conditions.
Research is being carried out for the development of new circuit topologies for wireless communication and radar systems. Specific research topics include: the design and development of miniaturized active integrated antennas, front-ends of wireless communication and radar systems including smart antenna systems; multi-band transceiver design, digital base-band signal processing for wireless communication, multi-band fractal antenna for satellite applications, analysis of radiation from multi-device high-gain amplifier, and interaction of active MMIC with package.

Algorithms and Theory of Computation
Theoretical Computer Science is a discipline at the interface between Mathematics and Computer Science. Work in theoretical computer science often fuels major advances in the world of computer technology, allied industrial endeavours and often contributes to the development of rich mathematical ideas. It focuses on developing mathematical tools applicable to computer science. The applicability is enabled by modelling various aspects of computer science in an abstract framework. A collection of some of the important subjects that fall in this discipline could be: Algorithms, Computational Complexity, Data Structures, Discrete Mathematics, Formal Specification & Verification, Graph Theory, Mathematical Logic, Models of Computation. The members of this group at DA-IICT, work on a wide subset of these areas both in the form of teaching courses as well as research.

Physics and Mathematical Sciences
For several years, DA-IICT has served as a premier training and research ground for ICT. Basic sciences are very much a central part of ICT research and teaching. Research in basic sciences at DA-IICT is primarily conducted in the areas of Mathematics and Physics and is both theoretical and computational in nature. Pure, applied as well as interdisciplinary studies of complex systems is being pursued. Broadly, the areas under study are frame theory, fractional differential equations, mathematical logic, fluid dynamics, astrophysics, quantum computation and information, general relativity, plasma physics, electromagnetics, granular systems and nonlinear waves. Interdisciplinary research is carried out in the areas of mathematical finance, sociophysics, stock markets, systems Biology and Bioinformatics.

Events and Activities
15th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (ISEC 2022) will be hosted by DA-IICT, 24-26 February 2022Humanities, Social Sciences and Design
The Humanities, Social Sciences and Design group is an interdisciplinary community of distinguished scholars working across the disciplines of Anthropology, Philosophy, Political Theory, Literary Studies, Visual Culture, Economics, History, Cultural Studies and Design. A broad commitment to teaching and researching the diversity of social life and human endeavour underlies this range of specialisations and methodological approaches.
While the undergraduate Core curriculum includes courses such as Approaches to Indian Society, Introductory/Development Economics and Science & Technology Studies, later students may choose from a range of electives on Visual Anthropology, Gender Studies and Modern Philosophy. The MDes in Communication Design curriculum further includes modules on the History of Design as well as Narratology and Photography to provide students with a wider perspective on their chosen subject.
In addition, a well-funded PhD program offers doctoral candidates an opportunity to work closely with the faculty members of their choice in a supportive and resource-rich environment.
Aside from teaching and research, faculty at HSS & Design also work with civil society groups and government agencies, especially in order to shape public policy for the benefit of marginalized communities.
