Professor Asim Banerjee has done his graduation in Electronics from the Pune University and his Masters in Electronic Instrumentation from NIT, Warangal. He joined IIT, Bombay as a senior research engineer in the DRDO sponsored project and then went on to do his PhD from the same institute in the area of Bio-medical Image Processing.
He has over 14 years of industrial experience in India and abroad, working as an instrumentation consultant, heading projects on medical systems design and development, working in the areas of non-destructive testing and software consultancy. He was a part of the Research and Development wing of a TATA Group Company heading the research work in the area of Signal Processing and Pattern Recognition. He worked on projects involving exploration of Audio/Video standards and generating proofs of concepts by applying cutting edge technologies to solve practical problems faced by the industry and society at large. He joined DA-IICT as a faculty member in July 2002.
