Biography

I am Jayesh Malaviya, and I have recently joined DAU (Formerly, DA-IICT) as an Assistant Professor. Prior to joining DAU, I was a Ph.D. scholar in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar, where I worked under the supervision of Prof. Anirban Dasgupta.

My research focuses on scalable machine learning, with particular emphasis on coresets, sketching techniques, randomized numerical linear algebra, and efficient algorithms for large-scale machine learning. My work has been published in leading international venues, including AAAI, TMLR, and NeurIPS.

Before my doctoral studies, I earned my M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from NIT Surat (Gold Medalist).

Specialization

Scalable Machine Learning, Coresets, Sketching Algorithms, Randomized Numerical Linear Algebra (RandNLA), Deep Learning

Publications

  • On Sketching for Gaussian Process Regression with New Statistical Guarantees. Transactions on Machine Learning Research (TMLR), 2026.
  • On Coreset for Logistic Regression with Missing Attribute Values. Submitted to Transactions on Machine Learning Research (TMLR), 2026.
  • Simple Weak Coresets for Non-Decomposable Classification Measures. Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), 2024.

Teaching

I have taught undergraduate courses in Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Data Structures and Introduction to Computing (using Python). I have also served as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate and graduate courses at IIT Gandhinagar, including Data Science, Machine Learning, Advanced Machine Learning, and the NPTEL course Scalable Data Science, jointly offered by IIT Kharagpur and IIT Gandhinagar.
