Statistics and Mathematics
DAU invites invite applications from outstanding candidates in Statistics, Probability, Applied Mathematics, and related interdisciplinary areas. We are seeking researchers who develop and apply innovative mathematical, computational, statistical, and probabilistic approaches to address challenging problems in science, engineering, technology, and society.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Probability, or a closely related discipline from a reputed institution, along with an excellent research record and demonstrated potential for high-quality research and teaching.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates working in areas including (but not limited to):
- Probability and Stochastic Analysis: Probability Theory, Random Processes, Stochastic Modeling, and applications of probability in interdisciplinary domains.
- Applied Statistics and Data Science: Causal Inference, High-dimensional Statistics, Statistical Learning, Bayesian Inference, Bayesian Computation, Missing Data Analysis, Imputation Methodology, Statistical Modeling, Network Statistics, and Analysis of Complex Data.
- Applied Mathematics: Optimization Techniques, Mathematical Modeling, Simulation, Computational Mathematics, Numerical Methods, Dynamical Systems, Stochastic Processes, and related areas.
- Interdisciplinary Research: Mathematical and statistical approaches for real-world applications including complex systems, uncertainty quantification, computational science, and data-driven modeling.
We welcome candidates who bridge theory and applications and contribute to the development of innovative mathematical and statistical methodologies for emerging interdisciplinary challenges. Candidates whose research intersects with Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Financial Mathematics, Climate Analytics, Healthcare Analytics, Social Sciences, or other emerging interdisciplinary domains are particularly encouraged to apply.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- A Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, with a First Class or equivalent grade in the preceding degree(s), and an excellent academic record throughout; and
- A strong and sustained research record, evidenced by publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals and leading international conferences.
Assistant Professor
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, demonstrated research potential, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates with postdoctoral research experience, evidence of independent research capability, and the potential to establish a vibrant research programme will be given preference.
Associate Professor
Applicants should have a minimum of six years of post-Ph.D. experience in teaching, research, or relevant professional practice, of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor (or an equivalent position) at a higher educational institution or research organization.
Candidates are expected to have an established record of scholarly achievement, demonstrated through:
- High-quality publications in reputed journals and conferences;
- Success in securing externally funded research grants and projects;
- Experience in supervising doctoral students and mentoring research scholars;
- Evidence of academic leadership and professional contributions to the discipline.
Industry Professionals
DAU also welcomes applications from candidates with substantial industry, research laboratory, or government-sector experience and a strong research and innovation profile. Professionals with expertise in advanced analytics, quantitative modeling, risk analysis, optimization, statistical computing, decision sciences, financial analytics, or industrial R&D are encouraged to apply.

Salary per year in Cost to the Institute (CTI) format
Assistant Professor: Minimum starting salary is ₹20 Lakh per annum.
(Exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates may be considered for higher compensation and additional incentives commensurate with their credentials, achievements, and potential contributions.)

Research Support and Professional Development
- Seed Research Grant: Up to ₹10 Lakh to support the establishment of research activities and laboratory infrastructure.
- Professional Development Allowance: A cumulative allowance of ₹3 Lakh every three years (on a reimbursable basis) to support participation in national and international conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities.
- Research Excellence Incentive: Financial reward of ₹1 Lakh for each publication in top-tier A/A-ranked conferences* and Q1 journals.
Health, Insurance and Other Benefits
- Comprehensive Medical Insurance: Health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 Lakh per annum for the faculty member and eligible family members under a floater policy. The entire premium is borne by the Institute.
- OPD medical reimbursement: ₹5000 per month for OPD medical expenses.
- Children Education Allowances: ₹50000 per year (₹25000 per child, and coverage up to two children.)
- Leave Travel Concession: ₹1.5 Lakh for a 4-year block.
- Interest free loan up to ₹5 Lakh.
- On-campus medical facilities, including visiting doctors and access to basic medicines through the University’s Medical Centre.
Leave and Work-Life Balance
- Casual Leave: 8 days per year.
- Special Casual Leave: 15 days per year.
- Vacation: Up to 60 days of vacation annually. Unavailed vacation is converted to earned leave (up to 30 days per year).
- Earned Leave Encashment: Accumulated earned leave is encashable upon separation from the University, as per applicable policies.

- Career Progression (Policy): A transparent and well-defined faculty career advancement framework that recognizes excellence in teaching, research, and institutional service.
- Teaching Load: Faculty members typically teach three courses per academic year. To facilitate a smooth transition, newly appointed faculty members are assigned a reduced teaching load of two courses during their first year (one course per semester).

Academics and Teaching Infrastructure
