Recruitment of a Research Fellow on Edge Computing & AI
Smart Energy Learning Centre (SELC)
(A New Research Centre at Dhirubhai Ambani University (Formerly DAIICT) funded by BSES Delhi, India)
Reference Number: CSR-24/BSES/A3-PKS/SELC
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates with good academic records for a fulltime, fixed-term Research Fellow position with the Smart Energy Learning Centre (SELC) at the Dhirubhai Ambani University (Formerly DAIICT), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
The project details, requisite qualifications, and experience are as follows:
Discarded and end-of-life smartphones represent a fast-growing e-waste stream, yet most retain functional processors, memory, sensors, cameras, and connectivity modules well suited to lightweight AI inference. This project investigates the repurposing of such discarded devices as low-cost edge-AI nodes covering on-device model compression and quantization, thermal and battery-health-aware scheduling, and deployment in real-world edge/IoT scenarios (e.g., smart agriculture, surveillance, Federated Learning). The JRF will support the experimental, data-collection, and software-development components of this work.
