Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar
Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU), Gandhinagar, formerly DA-IICT, as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years of academic excellence, organized a Symposium on Pedagogies in Engineering Education on November 15, 2025, at its campus. DAU has recently created a Centre for Teaching and Learning - SPARK - with a mandate to strengthen, modernize, and enrich the teaching-learning ecosystem. This is the first extension event under its umbrella, conceived and organised by the team consisting of Profs Rachit Chhaya, V Sunitha, Sanjay Srivastava, and Minal Bhise.
Following an introduction of the event by Prof Minal Bhise, the symposium was inaugurated with an Inaugural Address by Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, Director General, DAU.
The keynote address on Online Education & AI was delivered by Prof G. Venkatesh, Director, School of Technology, DAU. Prof Sanjay Srivastava had a brief presentation on the activities of the SPARK center.
Over 70 faculty participants from 15 engineering institutes of Gujarat shared pedagogical ideas, experiences, and challenges in the engineering education in the context of the changing educational landscape during this event.The symposium had a keynote address, eight invited talks, and a panel discussion covering themes like Integrating online learning in the curriculum, Use of AI tools for enhanced teaching learning, and Methods to enhance engagement in learning.
Invited Talks session consisted of eight talks centered on themes of the symposium by faculty participants from six engineering institutes.
A panel discussion on The Engaged Classroom: AI, Online Learning, and the Future of Pedagogy had Prof Sameer Sahasrabudhe (IIT Gn), Prof Zunnun Narmawala (Nirma University), Prof Barnali Chetia (IIIT-Vadodara), and Prof Dhaval Patel (Ahmedabad University) as panel members and Prof V Sunitha as a moderator.
