JRF position for Bio-AI for One Health Project

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for a temporary position to work at DAU, Gandhinagar, on a sponsored research project financed by the Department of Science and Technology, GoG, in collaboration with Gujarat Biotechnology University, Gandhinagar. The project details, requisite qualifications & experience, etc. are given below:

Title of the Project: Bio-AI for One Health

Position and Fellowship: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1 post
Rs. 40,000/- p.m.
Essential Qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, AI/ML, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline with strong foundation in machine learning, applied statistical methods and programming skills.
OR
B.Tech in Computer Science, Data Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, AI/ML, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline with strong foundation in machine learning, applied statistical methods and programming skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • NET/GATE or equivalent national-level examination qualification.
  • Experience in working with diverse data modalities including signals, images, and time-series data, along with exposure to various state-of-the-art deep learning architectures.
  • Exposure to uncertainty quantification methods for developing trustworthy AI systems.
  • Strong experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Familiarity with LLMs (e.g., GPT, LLaMA) and multimodal learning concepts.
  • Handling GPU systems
  • Good communication and documentation skills
Period of Appointment: This post is purely temporary for a duration of 1 year. Appointment will be made initially for 6 months and further extendable subject to satisfactory performance. It would, therefore, not confer any right for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in DAU. However, the selected candidate will be encouraged to apply for the PhD program of DAU as per the available guidelines.
Job Description:
  • Develop predictive, diagnostic and trustworthy AI  models using diverse data modalities, such as images, videos, text, and tabular data, across human, animal, plant, and environmental health domains to address complex global challenges.
  • Develop and implement deep learning algorithms for scalable solutions in the medical and health domain.
  • Quantification of the uncertainties in AI prediction for   trustworthy decision support.
  • Preprocess and annotate diverse health and medical  datasets, such as  multispectral, microscopic, and radiological modalities.
  • Build scalable pipelines for training and deploying models on cloud and edge platforms.
  • Evaluate and optimize AI models for accuracy, interpretability, and speed, using real-world datasets.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including doctors, veterinarians, agronomists, and data scientists.
