SPONSORED PROJECT POSITION OPENINGS:

Project:

Speech Technologies in Indian Languages under the project titled, ‘National Language Translation Mission (NLTM): BHASHINI’

Objective:

Building Assistive Speech Technologies for the Challenged

Funding Agency:

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), New Delhi, Govt. of India.

Task Description::

  • Development of Application Programming Interface (API) for Assistive Speech Technologies,
  • Development of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) Algorithms for Data Augmentation and Pattern Recognition tasks for Dysarthric Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)-Assistive Speech Technology,
  • Development of Eye Gaze to Speech Converter: Assistive Speech Technologies for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Patients
  • Research on Speech Large/Small Language Models (LLMs/SLMs) for Assistive Speech Technologies
  • Research advanced ML and DL techniques, including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Diffusion-based models, Transformers, and Conformers, for speech enhancement, with a particular focus on improving the quality and intelligibility of Dysarthric speech.
  • Research on advanced dysarthric speech data augmentation using neural speech synthesis, TTS, voice cloning, adversarial methods, and feature-level generation to improve ASR performance, impairment classification, and model robustness.
  • Develop an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) system for Indic languages that integrates personalized TTS, generative AI–based dysarthric speech augmentation, and dysarthric-to-typical speech conversion to address data scarcity, improve ASR robustness across severity levels, and enable natural, intelligible communication while preserving speaker identity.
  • Investigate audio deepfake detection and source tracing and integrate them with Automatic Speaker Verification (ASV) for dysarthric speakers in monolingual and cross-lingual settings.
  • Lip Reading/ Lip-to-Word for a Visual Speech recognition system for dysarthric speech
  • Speech Data and Metadata Collection in Gujarati/Hindi/English/Marathi Dysarthric Speech from hospitals and high-quality manual annotation for type, severity level, and aetiology.
  • Analysis of Dysarthric Speech and Development of Dysarthric ASR,
  • Performance Improvements using Dysarthric Severity-Specific ASR Models
  • Development of Speech Emotion Recognition for Disabled Persons
  • Development of Personalized Text-to-Speech (TTS) as Communication Aid for Disabled Persons
  • Research Publications in Top Conferences and Journals
