Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar
As per the directives of the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Dhirubhai Ambani University celebrated National Sports Day (NSD) from August 29-31, 2025.
National Sports Day is celebrated every year on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. In 2019, the Fit India Movement was launched on this day, marking a milestone in India’s fitness and sports journey.
The National Sports Day 2025 celebration, led by the Fit India Mission, was a three-day, nationwide sports and fitness event organised from August 29-31. The theme, 'Ek Ghanta, Khel ke Maidaan Mein', aimed to encourage everyone to spend at least one hour a day on physical activity to fight sedentary habits and improve national fitness.
Over the three-day event, more than 250 students participated in different sports, including football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, carrom, table tennis, and chess, along with engaging fitness sessions. The event not only gave them a platform to showcase their talent but also helped them learn the invaluable lessons of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Celebrating NSD alongside our Freshers Weekend showed our university's dedication to promoting fitness, building a strong community, and ensuring a well-rounded experience for all students. We're proud to be part of this national effort and are committed to helping create a healthier, more active generation of leaders.
