Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates with good academic records for a fixed-term Research Intern positions with the Smart Energy Learning Centre (SELC) at the Dhirubhai Ambani University (Formerly DA-IICT), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The project details, requisite qualifications, and experience are as follows.

Position and Stipend Research Intern03 Posts
02 positions: INR 7,500 per month (all-inclusive) for eligible DAU UG/PG students, as per DAU policy.
01 position: INR 7,500–30,000 per month (all-inclusive), depending on qualifications, as per DAU policy for DAU UG/PG students and Non-DAU UG/PG students (with UG/PG degree).

Eligibility Requirements (Research Intern)
Essential Qualifications
  • Eligible DAU UG/PG Students as per university policy.
  • Non-DAU UG/PG Students (with UG/PG degree) as per university policy.

  • Knowledge/Experience in thin-film sensor fabrication, eco-friendly/green materials, electronic systems, functional coatings.
  • Knowledge/Experience with embedded controllers (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, FPGA) and/or IoT communication technologies (Wi-Fi, LoRa, MQTT, BLE) for real-time data transmission.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with gas sensing setups, calibration, data acquisition systems.
  • Proficiency in programming tools such as Python/MATLAB/C/C++, LabVIEW.
Period of Appointment This position is purely temporary, with an initial appointment until December 2026. Any extension beyond this period will be subject to the availability of project funding, satisfactory performance, and project requirements. This does not confer any right for the candidate to claim an extension or absorption at DAU.
Job Description

Project Focus:

The project aims to develop eco-friendly multisensors for humidity, temperature, and CO detection in coal-mine environments. It focuses on integrating these sensors with IoT platforms and drone-based systems for real-time monitoring. The work also includes sensor fabrication, characterization, and field validation under simulated mining conditions.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Design & development of eco-friendly sensor materials for Multisensor System (humidity, temperature, and CO gas detection).
  • Fabrication and characterization of sensors.
  • Integration of sensors with IoT platforms for real-time data acquisition and development of a drone-based monitoring system.
  • Field testing and validation in simulated coal-mine conditions.
  • Data analysis and documentation for progress reports.
  • Assisting in research publications and prototype demonstration, and perform other duties related to the project as assigned.

  • Based at the Smart Energy Learning Centre, DAU, Gandhinagar, India.
